Hi, we apologize that we missed your questions before. We do recommend that all natural stone does get sealed. It does help protect the stone and keep it's look. Sealing the stone will not make it slippery because the sealer will work into the surface of the stone. You do have the option of using an impregnating sealer which will keep the natural dry look of the stone or you can use an enhancer sealer which will provide the sheen or wet look which you mentioned. That is just preference for the home owner. One of the main reasons for using a sealer is to prevent against freeze thaw in colder climate areas. This keeps the moisture from penetrating the stone and then expanding if temperatures drop to freezing. If you do live a warm climate area we do still recommend sealing your stone but it is not as imperative and I'm sure we do have customers who do not seal their stone in warm climates. There are all types of sealers out there for both interior and exterior stone, different sealers also have varying lifetimes before needing to be reapplied so pay attention to that. Hopefully, this was a little helpful and if we can assist with paver stone for your project please get in touch with us and visit our online showroom www.rockbottomtileandstone.com. We do ship direct to all 50 states!
