Generally you use the table measurement to determine chandy size. Most advise 12" less than your table width is the max. Personally, I don't want diners to feel like something is hanging over their heads, so I'd want 12-18" all the way around the table for place settings to be out from under the chandy. In another room without a table you would add 12+12=24 for the chandy size. A photo of your table, room and chandy would be helpful. ps, the room is blank slate right now, will be painted and much more.

What is the table size?

Very pretty chandelier! It looks like the table will be a little small for it.

42 wide by 70

It's just a large room! You should be fine!!!

I think that chandelier will look great in this room! 28" diameter is a good size for the space.
