That would look excellent with a big mirror, see if you can find one that is slightly narrower then your table and no higher than the ceiling on the left.

Perhaps consider a mirror that is a bit rustic like the bench's legs. Also, you could slide some really substantial wicker baskets under the bench and/or throw a white cashmere throw on its edge.

I would recommend a console table or cabinet that is somewhat of a statement piece with a mirror above. A statement piece is something that is custom made, artistic, or antique in nature. You have wall sconces, so that is perfect so that guests can check hair and clothes upon entering your home. Also mirrors add depth to a room.

I appreciate the great ideas. We just bought the bench for the spot so we will be staying with that. Everyone has suggested a mirror. What dimensions would be best? Centered? And should we put anything else on the wall? Thank you so much!

I would go with a vertically-oriented painting or wall sculpture. I don't necessarily want to see myself (and my hostess's backside) when I walk into someone's house, but that just may be me.

The bench is a functional piece, for people to rest a moment or put shoes on and off. It doesn't have the size or style to carry this very visible location. It fades into the woodwork while taking up space. So I recommend you move the bench off to the side, and find a console table that is special enough and big enough to be in this focal point spot.

Above the console, I recommend art, not a huge mirror. See Houzz articles on use of mirrors in decor.

This is a space that could accommodate a big-ass armoire that so many folks are trying to squeeze into their too-small living rooms! With those grand doors I think you could easily incorporate a majestic cabinet into the room--right between those sconces. Something with character, as opposed to something too new-looking. A great antique find maybe.
