In your transitional style dining room, I like one of the following fixtures. Macadamia is a nice color, but I'd need to know what other colors you have nearby to know how it works in your dining room.

I like the color, but keep looking for lighting. Maybe if you changed out the curtains and got a more proportional rug a selection for lighting would fall in place.

When selecting a light fixture you may wish to consider the amount of illumination that will be produced and the direction the light is projected. Some of the fixtures shown above may not light the dining table directly and will rely on the reflected light from the ceiling.

Room colors and furnishing may also be considered to compensate for dark items. "See" the rug may make a differance as leehoneman mentioned.
