I agree with Dyetecture. I'd remove all the shrubs, and that tree on the right that obscures that window on the right side of the house. That would leave the tree closer to the house, but it's hard to tell by the photo how close it is to the house, but it, too, obscures the house a bit, but maybe it could just be trimmed-don't know if that would be an option without messing it up totally. I'm not a landscaping person-I'm just commenting on what looks off to my unprofessional eyeballs. Hopefully a pro landscaper will comment. You really do need to remove
this so all the nice lines of you home can be seen.

If you can provide me with a photo of your brick up close and your courtyard with entry, I can help you even more with colors. I can see that your brick tends to salmon - for a modern look, some of the camoflauge green based grays can be very mid century and get the cream off that siding / cladding. Then, the trim will be lighter and help bring the lines of the roof in .. generally you want in contemporary looks to get the siding or cladding at least the same depth of color as the brick so it flows and isn't so choppy . . . a little darker even. . so something like bm gloucester sage http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/gloucestersage

as I see the lines of your home, I might suggest tonal color blocking so we keep one element of the courtyard light for contrast sake . . let me know what direction the garage faces so I can judge light exposure . . and if you are willing to paint brick, then what colors predominate in your public space decor / art - as accents? I might as well make the whole place flow . .

my thoughts are a green or cream/soft white for the garage door and cream/soft white for all the other trim, windows, gutters etc

I wouldn't paint the bricks

I have the sense that this is a pretty good looking house, and is not much of a stretch to change it to more of the look that you are after. I would encourage you to include dealing with the landscape within the courtyard…. extending that space out a bit towards the road. Right now the overgrown shrubbery and fence give the house a very closed in feeling because of the way you have the open expanse of lawn… then suddenly the barrier of greenery and fencing. I would open that space and pull the courtyard space out into the front yard a bit, and give it all that more modern or MCM look that you are wishing for. I think you could have quite a stunning result with some thoughtful planning. I would probably suggest that this is a very good project for a landscape architect to be involved in, along with a designer to help you with a colour palette for the exterior of your home.
