Concrete Patio

Love this patio. I would love to install one in my home in Vancouver, BC. Are there any special tips/suggestions?
Did you use rebar? What type of finish, etc. Any details that you can provide would be much appreciated.

There is woven wire mesh in the slab. It has a smooth trowel finish. We put lamp black in the mix, but should have put more in hindsight, it faded a lot. The control joints were put in the formwork. They have worked pretty well to reduce cracking. The fire pit is just a hole in the concrete, it has no bottom. Make sure you have positive drainage from your slab, ours puddles a bit.
