Window Treatment Recommendations?

last modified: 12 years ago
We just finished a remodel and changed the layout and purpose of a couple of rooms and I'm not sure what window treatments to use in the family/dining room. My taste is eclectic and my budget is as small as possible. No TV in the room at present and no plans for one, bright afternoon sun (South Central Florida but upgraded windows so light is an issue, heat not so much), and the furniture you'll see is what's leftover from prior to the reno, not the final mix. It will, however, likely be what's there for the next year until child #1 graduates from college and frees up the budget somewhat. The corner that currently has nothing in it to the left will shortly be home to our dartboard so the vibe in the room will not be in any way formal! The purpose of the space is a comfortable place for us and friends to hang out, mainly while preparing meals. The long, higher window is the bigger problem since it allows the evening sun to blind whomever is facing that way seated at the dining table when we eat but privacy isn't an issue with either window.

I've always loved verticals here in Florida for their light blocking ability and clean lines. I'm sure there are gasps and hands to breasts all over the internet at that confession but there it is: I am a vertical lover. But... I am willing to try to change. Photos coming in a moment.
