Shower without threshold

I want a shower without a threshold. We are going to remodel our bath, and I believe we will have about this much area for the shower. Our contractor says code requires a 4 inch threshold, and I wonder if this has been an issue for you.

That has never been a problem around here (DFW area of Texas) and we have done many of them that have all been inspected. It is a very tricky installation and a lot of contractors simply don't know how or are afraid to do them. Also, your contractor's plumber and tile guy also have to be on board. Not sure if that's the situation you have.

What kind of tile/stone did you use? Could go warmer or cooler with the beige plus blue. Love it.

It is called... Daltile Ayers Rock Golden Ground in 20" x 20". We cut it into 4" pieces for the shower floor.
