Exterior paint problem

I am about to have my house painted,it is bungalow one and a half style. I've decided on the color, but.................what is the best sheen for a house paint? When I painted my shed the professional suggested I use one gallon of flat mixed with one gallon of satin. That was 3 years ago and it looks freshly painted. I like the look of a bit of sheen, it seems to make the shed crisp and clean. Could I do the same to my entire house? Or would it look like heck? The trim will be a charcoal color, while the house will be an artic white? I need some help, please send me your thoughts.

Don't do any custom mixing of sheens that makes doing touchups difficult. The flatter the sheen, the more it hides the issues on an older house, and the easier it is to touch up. I'd suggest a ''scrubbable'' flat as that is availble from several makers. Or an eggeshell if that's not. Semi gloss for the trim is traditional. Any good quality paint from a real paint store like Sw or BM will last you and look good as long as you perform the proper prep, which includes scraping and priming.
