Small space needs love and suggestions!

Hey guys,

My very small space and basically only room I the house besides my own and my bathroom needs help. Lighting is a major issue especially due to the low ceilings. I feel as though I'm completely out of ideas on how to freshen without over crowding the room. Experts what do you think?

Declutter, add some mirrors to the walls for brightness (1-2), replace door knobs on closet, add a rug to define the space as separate, maybe paint the white chair a shiny navy/black/chocolate, place two dark but very crisply tailored pillows on the sofa.

We had bad lighting in our living room (couldn't read nothing while on couch), so i installed track lighting above it. If they make the shields in plastic DO NOT buy them...buy the metal ones.

Declutter, lower the placement of artwork, and add a wall sconce behind the sofa for better lighting. Good luck!

Are you renting? Can you make any changes besides cosmetic? If you can, I would be tempted to put the sofa on the other side and move that second closet door down as far as possible (the first set is almost against the wall). That will leave you some room to hang the TV on the wall between the closets and put the TV stand under it (if you can or get a smaller stand). Now you can actually get to the closets and use them. There is second choice (though not as popular). You could tear out the closets and move the sofa back. It will give you room for two very small scale side chairs. To make up for the storage from the closets, you could add two built-in cabinets on either side of the TV stand and incorporate the bottom side of one of them for your pet's bed. The closets as they are now are not even usable as the couch is blocking them completely. Just a couple options to think about.....
