For well made cabinets with an excellent finish like these, I'd try adding more lighting first, or change the lighting already there. Try putting in a warmer LED floodlight instead of what looks like CFL fluorescent floodlight in one place to try it out (yes, they are expensive now). The attraction of the cabinets is their quality construction and finish. If you paint them white, they will look like slightly odd white cabinets. You might consider a jeweled knob instead of the plain dark knob, or perhaps a simple off-white ceramic knob. Other changes: if the floor is ceramic tile, try having a professional tile cleaner come out to clean and seal them again. The grout can be lightened by professional cleaning in some cases.

I agree a light cream countertop in solid surface would look great. Or consider a quartz type surface, perhaps with some sparkle. Adding LED undercabinet lighting might be a good update , too.
