Wall could be painted with chalk board paint (including attic door & add a polka dot in another color) If you cannot move the tv to another wall, you could probably build two rows of boxed shelves underneath that rest on ledge. Fill with baskets. Or your could stencil the wall and add a foamy upholstered cushion on ledge.
