It might be best to keep what you are used to.

I think that really depends on whether you think that you need one to actually function like such a door has always been designed to, which is to be able to open the front door without allowing any outside elements-like wind, rain, snow, blowing leaves(or any kind of debris) to enter your house. I imagine that the architect is thinking about the aesthetics, since a storm door is an extra visual item. So, if you don't think you really need one, you could decide to not install one right now. You can always add one later, and there are ones that are designed to be as inconspicuous as possible.
One positive thing about having one is that it also protects the front door from wear and tear, so it keeps it from getting bombarded by the elements and showing the "wear and tear."

When we removed the storm door from our back entrance due to damage (wind!) I noticed that the windows would condensate on the exterior door now on the inside, when they never did before. I would assume its because its an old door. Also, I miss being able to open the door, and open the screen in the door for hearing the dogs or airflow, and when guests were coming over I would open the main door so it was more welcoming with just the storm door they could see in.

Ive always had one as well, and my new home does not. I like it best for summer days, keeping the door open and not letting all the bugs in, but you still get the breeze.

If you can live with your door being unprotected from the elements, then you could always install an invisible screen to use in the nicer weather.

We installed a beautiful new front door sans a storm door. I really do miss the storm door though! I'm considering having one installed. I would choose a full glass one so that the beauty of the main door still shows though.

Or a retractable screen if it's only left open in summertime...

I bought a home last year that had recently been flipped - interior wise - but the windows and doors need to soon be replaced (some, not all). We are contemplating installing a storm door with a screen so we can have the main door open and still have airflow throughout our home in the upcoming spring/summer months. We keep asking ourselves, do we really need one? Interesting reading the reasons . Personally I don't care for the look of storm doors myself ...or the hassel of entering through 2 doors but that is just me. A quality ,well sealed and insulated exterior door shouldn't need a storm door to "protect" it in most climates...like newer well insulated windows don't need storm windows.

What did you ultimately decide? We are in the same predicament. Our architect says we don’t need one and I thought that was so strange having always had one my whole life. I also like having a full glass security storm door so I can keep my front door open and let the sunlight in in the summer. And, growing up in the city, I keep the storm door locked when I answer the front door when a stranger comes knocking and I’m home alone! I can’t do that without a storm door.

Nowadays, you don't need one for insulation, and at least with my house, my front door was really pretty so I didnt want to partially cover it up with a storm door if I didn't need to. That said, your other reasons may be valid if they are important to you.
