Small room design problem !!

Never comfortable in this TV room. Set up wrong.

I know this sounds nuts because your TV doesn't look all that big, but your TV might be too large for your space. I used to work in this field (video monitors) and learned a lot about this stuff when I worked there. I have a very small home and it was so hard to find a small true 1080p HDTV. I finally found one on either HSN or QVC - I think QVC had it.

If you look at the recommendations on this page, a less than 30" screen is likely where you should be.

I'd also consider hanging the TV on the wall for a cleaner look and removing the stand unless you really need it for storage. It could open up the space so you can push the coffee table back a bit more from the sofa.

I don't see any better way to set it up, and the room looks great the way it is. To be more physically comfortable, you might change the coffee table for a cocktail ottoman to put your feet up, and exchange the slipper chair for an armchair or small recliner.

Is the problem seeing the TV comfortably from the short arm of the sofa? If so, you might consider raising the TV (wall mount or place on a higher stand), and/or pull the sofa out from the wall a few inches so that the long arm comes to the window (or thereabouts). You could put a narrow console table in the space between the wall and the sofa if you wanted and could find one to fit.

I would try wall mounting your tv where the print is at the end of the lounge , put your print on the TV wall and then place the sofa along the tv wall coming around where across the room ...there not backing on to anything...I think this will takeaway the open feeling...I also think that this will be cosy as you are defining the space...also if you have doors on the opening into the room close them...see how that works for you.

I would opt for a round coffee table for better flow and a smaller footprint. Good luck -- looks great!

of course if you would want to maximize your seating space, we could make a new sectional that would perfectly fit your wall "nook" and add a chaise on the right return, but that would mean losing your side tables and lamps, as well as the small accent chair, which give this room character. xoxo eva
