In the New Age of Open Concept Living, is it acceptable to see the kitchen from the front door? We live in a very traditional house - center entrance colonial, living room to left of foyer, dining room to right, kitchen to the back. we want to open up the dining room to the kitchen, adding an island where the dividing wall currently is. But it could mean that the kitchen - the island, anyway - will be visible when you enter the house. Is that standard? Borderline? Does it not run counter to (pardon the pun) the traditional style of home?
