What "did not work"? I don't understand "clear glaze finish". If the glaze is clear ???

The kit did not work. The cabinet company's repair kit has a pen that is basically white watery liquid that smells like paint. Very runny and not thick enough to cover the chipped area.

Apparently there is a glaze over the cabinets (this is what Lowes and Sherwin Williams tell me). It is white though and not like an antique glaze, so, I don't get what they mean by glaze. All I'm trying to do if replicate the factory finish look. The satin white that I had matched at Lowes had a different shine to it.

I understand about the touch up kit. What you found is typical.

You cabinets are almost certainly not painted, but finished with conversion varnish. It's a tough and durable finish, but difficult to touch up -- impossible really for a homeowner.

I would first try the manufacturer or their local distributor. Ask for a new touch up kit, explaining why you need one.

If the chip is on a door or drawer front, you might try a custom cabinet shop. They may have a finisher on staff, or be able to direct you to one who could do the work.
