We designed this bed and our team made it ! It is simply a very think MDF board that we built the base for - ensuring that we got the balance just right from visually (making it as small as possible) to strength and balance (ensuring that it could balance the top and someone sitting on the edge of the bed!) We then painted it in an acrylic white paint - easy and effective!!!

do you think that a white gloss veneer bed that is that shinny modern white will give the same look or too shiny?

I think this look is about the natural textures which works really well. If you like the shiny look you can do it, just make sure you have something else in the room in the same gloss to balance and connect the bed, otherwise it will stand out like a "shiny" thumb!
