We are trying to find a way to make the kitchen look nice, without spending a fortune. We have to live with the current countertops for now, which are a light grey corian-type material with dark grey, black and white flecks. The cabinets are white laminate and the appliances are stainless. We changed the cabinet hardware and just added the subway tile in a dark charcoal, but NOW we desperately need to pick a paint color.

The trouble is, the kitchen is open to the family room which has a walnut table, and earthtones (sage greens, wheat, espresso-almost-black brown) with pops of orange. The wood floors are a light maple.

What color paint should go in the kitchen? My first thought was to pick a grey (more grey?!?!?!) since there isn't a TON of wall space in the kitchen, but I worry -- will it need to also be carried into the family room? What about the rest of the house?
