Built ins around existing fireplace

Would love to add bookshelves around my existing fireplace- will also be putting in hardwood floors---looking for ideas on ways to accommodate the 'ledge' around the bottom. Please don't make fun of my TV, we live by the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' motto :)
