Thank you that is what I think. My contractor said he could fix it but he says it will cost a lot getting the carpenters and painters and countertop people.

Don't let him wear you down. It's his cost and his responsibility, not yours. Both at looks terrible! What was he thinking?

I just built a house and several times the builder made a mistake and tried to get me to drop it by playing that card. No dice. And they did fix everything at their cost, time and trouble.

I think they should fix it, They never should have done it two different ways. It should have been one or the other.

crowley- what do you think should have been done as you don't think either look good. Any suggestions?
LaRochelle - the installers made the mistake of installing it differently but contractor thought the right was better since the countertop was small on that side. I thought it looked strange. He was more annoyed that seeing the differences pointed out that something wasn't right.

Just asking.... I have another countertop where the side was cut jagged as this same installer thought I was going to have a backsplash even though it says this particular area was to only have the countertop as I was putting in a tile backsplash but nothing on the one wall. Now with the top cut jagged I need to now choose different tile and add a backslash to that one side. So not thrilled about that.

Dang, I was on my iPad and sometimes it has a mind of it's own. I meant that the right pic with the cut out looks bad, not both sides.
Don't remember what I was starting to type up there, can't figure out how to edit, and I'm so very sorry! But the cut out side is not right.

Greyniece, make the contractor fix that too. He's just trying to intimidate you if he acts angry or says it'll cost him money.
Remember, you are paying him to make sure the job is done right and to your satisfaction. And you are the one who has to live with these mistakes if they're not corrected--not him.

I learned the hard way. :(.

My builder installed the wrong windows in the front bedroom of my new home. The architect's rendering showed two windows but the builder's subs put in one. Builder claimed the specs showed one window, different from the architect's rendering, even tho I paid for two windows. I sat in that builder's office with the entire team trying to wear me down for four entire hours and heard every excuse in the book, including it would cost them. I wouldn't budge.

Same with my shower door. I ordered and paid $500 more for a frameless door. Got framed. Same excuses and trying to wear me down. They wouldn't refund my money so....they changed it.

Lots of other little things. Oh, I almost forgot! The design center delivered the wrong floor tile! We caught happened to be at the house the night before the install. Same thing...tried to talk me into accepting the incorrect tile. For hours. I figured I'm the one
who would have to live with it for years. They got and installed the correct tile....then tried to charge me $800 for the return! They backed down. Lol. After all, it was the design center's mistake and I had fortunately taken pictures of the tile I ordered at the time of the order. Dodged a bullet there, lol. Because, yes, the design center tried to say I just didn't remember what I'd ordered.

I now have the home of my dreams. :). But it was a learning process, I tell you!

Oh Yes!! I am learning and being a single female who isn't good with numbers has been more of a challenge than I ever imagined. But getting there. I sent an email saying I had asked friends on FB and on a house design site and everyone said the same thing - so I'm sure they won't be thrilled how the internet can support homeowners. Glad you got the home of your dreams!!
