Installing stone is much more expensive than ceramic. Marble is almost in its own category. You are right on target...or maybe a little low for some areas...especially with marble. A human being's work/sweat/effort is always going to have "value". In Canada the minimum wage (McDonald's work mind you) is $10/hour. A skilled trade can work out to be $60/hr. Some areas of Canada offer a wage for "warm human being" rated as $60/hr...and a skill on top of that gets you $80 - $120/hr (oil patch workers in the North...make a lot of money).

You get the idea. High-end product requires high-end skills or high-end lawsuits follow. High-end skills are paid a high-end wage. Makes you want to rethink the whole "going to university" thing doesn't it?

How much can I expect to pay for installation of 6 x 12 ceramic tile over current vinyl 12 x 12 stuck on concrete? Also, will I need to remove the vinyl before tiling? Thanks!

Slooper - remove the vinyl and then look at installing ceramic. Don't go cheap on tile install...it always backfires. Please start your own thread. This one died a natural death 2 years ago.
