oh ok we will do the walkway that way , by blue do you mean no. 2 ?? that is iron grey but i dont know why it is giving blues and purple hues .

From my desk top #2 looks like purple, so no. I dont like purple. I like #3 the best because it's not the norm, but I think #4 is also very nice, but a little more typical.

Our builder informed us that he has had a lot of problems with preprinted Hardieboard. Planks will stick together and, when pulled apart, some of the finish comes off. By the time the planks are up, they often have enough surface defects that they require repainting. He suggests we use unpainted Hardiboard and then paint it, allowing any color choice we want.

merryssa, it's a little hard to tell on my screen...what color is your roof? I like the gray on the most recent pic you posted...looks great with the roof and white trim. That would be a strong contender for me if the roof is charcoal.

Merryssa, the best thing to do is to go off physical colour chips. Colours on a monitor will vary greatly because they're created by light whereas chips are created with pigment.

When I'm advising clients on colour, I always recommend to get more than one and purchase a pint of each to paint on a board and test it against your home. Try it at different times of the day as well as it will react differently depending on the position of the sun. You may be surprised how differently they look from one hour to another. It's a small investment on a big project and well worth the time and effort.

With regards to your shutters, I like them and I don't like them. I like them when the colour is close to your walls (#4). I don't like them when the difference is too great (#1 & #3). But that's me. I'm a fan of subtle elements where the wall and details interact harmoniously and in the same colour range. But if you like big and bold, do the opposite. #1 and #3 throws me off because you have a lot of shutters and they're fairly close to each other making it claustrophobic. I think with the right colour palette, it will look amazing.

Siding in a whitish color with dark gray/blue shutters on the upper level windows is nice... I also, what about "no shutters" on the lower level with window boxes, like pictured below?

I would say nr4 but you pointed out that the picture in nr2 isn't purple but grey so I don't know what the difference with nr4 is to you.

    Number 2.

thats why we are confused , we were searching all greys and really got 50 shades of grey on chips but as you said they always look different in different times , just to check i got 2 ounces paint and painted some pots in different grey colors and all colors were different on chips and mud pots so i painted some broken and spare hardie planks but same problem as how the whole house would look like ?? we are more confused just because we want dark color so are scared to get wrong.

Palmer i really liked the idea of window boxes , we will get them, not sure if we will get only lower shutter off , if got color not going good with shutter we will get all off .
verbuyst , 2 is more dark shade of grey and 4 is lighter.
Oke, so how much sun do you get on a typical day? Because I would say take the darker grey for when you live somewhere with a lot of sun, otherwise take the lighter grey. I'm more incline to chose the lighter colour and if you want, you could take your trim in a real darker colour.

we get lots of sun , our house is in middle of big lot , it is not surrounded by many trees thats why we want some warmth.as you see in first pic it was light sage green so want a change also.

one more concern please as hardie planks comes in light beige color as pre paint , would it matter when painting it another color ?? would it be more dark ??
this is how siding looking before any paint.
We used plain Hardie plank ten years ago and painted it a BM color. While we have painted and replaced trim, we HAVE NEVER had to repaint the Hardie plank. It still looks perfect.
We are building a new house now and are leaning toward the preprinted Hardie plank in the light gray with white trim and black shutters. I don't really think you can go wrong either way. We will also be using Azak (sp?) for all the trim this time around.

Keep the yellow in the new door that would look great with the grey

You must test the colors - never rely on chips or samples. Since you have brick more of a neutral color is best for others will try to compete. If the shutters can't be hung and sized properly as yours are not, it is better not to have them at all. Shutters can make or break a house and 99% houses have them hung wrong.
