Ann- Thanks for responding. My walls will be painted in Pittsburg Paints Whisker (gray). My kitchen cabinets (behind the couch) are white (same as the door going out to the patio) so I thought the white console would work. Do you think a dark console is a better choice? My floors will be just a little bit lighter than the ones in the demo house.

Oh sorry, my mistake. I thought you would have a fireplace just like the one in the original pic. So, the floors will be pretty dark? Maybe the white would work but what does the rest of your furniture look like? Not sure what colors the console comes in but I do love the RH natural gray furniture color. But, I think it's most important to know what the rest of the furniture looks like though.

The only piece I'm bringing with me is a large dark coffee table (60"). The rest will be new so I'm flexible. I've had my eye on this couch (92").

Maybe with that dark coffee table in the room, the white console is a good choice. Boy, do I ever love that sofa you're considering!!!!!

Are you going to get a pair of chairs too? If it were my room, I might place the sofa facing and parallel to the fireplace (which is still pretty good for TV viewing) and have a chair at each end of the sofa, chairs facing one another.

I'm rather shocked this discussion hasn't already gotten about 40 comments. It's just the type of discussion that's usually very popular. Houzz is a huge help - glad you heard about it. Hopefully a bunch of people will join in soon. If not, try a new dilemma with the pic of your new fireplace and say something like, "Please help me furnish and decorate my new house.".

Yes, the 80" console is the way to go. In the future, you may end up getting a larger TV, but you will never get a smaller one.

Yes, I think a light-colored couch is a good idea. Will you have a light-colored rug under that dark coffee table? (I hope you plan an update from the one currently under the coffee table.)

Thanks for responding. Here are 3 other color options for the console. I originally thought white would be best because of the white kitchen on the opposite wall. Not sure if it matters but the granite on the island is floretta white and the other granite is absolute black. I love my silk rug but do realize it's outdated so it will either live in my bedroom or dining room when we move in. I think with the dark floors and dark coffee table a light rug is the way to go. Okay so what color console do you all think works best in this space?

Due to the color of the coffee table that will be in the room, probably the white. Black would be my second choice. I think the brown or gray might not work near the coffee table.

Hi all, I am looking into buying the same media cabinet for my family room. The TV is on the wall- 75 inches- and I want to put a media cabinet under it. Problem is 100 inches is too big. Would 80 work?
