There are only about a million different tiles out there to choose from. I assume you are in North America?

From what we can see you have a contemporary home? Would these tiles also extend into other rooms like a dining room or family room/great room?

Would you like to have a lighter tile as you have now? Or would you want to go darker?

What's the budget? Unlimited? Or not?

I love this tile line. There are dozens of options within the line, and they are mid priced. Sometimes availability in some areas is an issue.

I think the larger tile sizes would look best in your space - 24 x 24 or 12 x 24 - not the 13 x 13 as you have now.

This photo is just as an example. The space is more contemporary than your space but I have the photo handy so I will add it!

jn3344 has asked some very good questions. When considering tiles be sure to take into account the color of your cabinets and walls. Since cabinets have gold warm tones then stick to tiles that have the same warmth. Any of these might work with your cabinets.

Are you considering the backsplash area?

Hi i would recommend you unique wooden floors which suits perfectly in kitchen. The finishing can be done after installation to fit with the interior :)

- Yes, we live in North America - in sunny Calif :-)
- Budgetwise we don't want to go too crazy
- So far we seem to like lighter colors. We have creme marfil in Dining/living/foyer areas
- Kitchen expands into Familiy room
- We are open to change the backsplash if any good ideas

We like french pattern travertine look - but not able to find it in porcelain.

Maybe you should post some pictures of looks that you like because as jn pointed out…. there are a million options to choose from.

There are tons of travertine-look ceramic and porcelain tiles out there that can be laid in a Versailles pattern. I would recommend going to a couple of tile or flooring showrooms. Tell them what you are looking for. There should be many options for you.

Each porcelain is slightly different in color/shade so colors on your monitor may or may not resemble the actual tile.

The eleganza line I mentioned earlier actually has a travertine porcelain, in the sizes you would need for a Versailles pattern in three different shades.

Hello kedardesh, I highly recommend you pay for a professional designer or decorator to come in and help you with your flooring selection. Bring home your top five tiles for him/her to see in your home and discuss variables. This is a very expensive and messy change. One you want to get right the first time. Make sure flooring ties into your granite countertop, your backsplash and the overall style/mood you are wanting to create. It looks like you have either a broken glass backsplash or river rock backsplash with granite return around the perimeter - in my opinion, not a good match together because IF your home is contemporary - you should be confident with your backsplash choices and do all the same tile. I recommend you finish tiling the backsplash with same accent tile you have around the stove area.

STYLE: Your home is more contemporary (due to square windows and cabinetry profile), but by going with warm wood stain, shutter window treatments and black countertop colour, your pushing it into traditional. IF you want to stay traditional - then go for a soft vein cut porcelain tile in a 12X24 format - like Fioranese silver vein cut - which also comes in a warmer walnut which might be a better fit for your cabinetry. Shown below in both vein cut and cross cut patterns. Walnut Cross cut is first photo, silver vein cut is second.

Take my advice, pick up samples then hire a professional to help you make the right decision the first time, you should also have a professional in to grade your sub-floor - which should be a minimum 1 1/4" thickness, for a standard 12X24" tile. If you go any bigger, you must add Ditra membrane. Hire professionals,- you wont' regret it - good luck with your project.

Since you have the kitchen open to the dining and living areas would you consider doing the crema marfil throughout? How would that look? It would certainly give you continuity and flow.

We considered it, I am sure it will look good. but couple of reasons we are but reluctant are:
- might be too slippery in the kitchen
- marble is more difficult to maintain
