We have hanging lamps over the tables in both eating areas, a dining room and a smallish sunny "morning room" adjacent to the kitchen. Now that I think about it though, we don't often turn them on. The dining room is used only for guests and holidays, and usually lit by the fireplace and candles on those occasions. The morning room is where we have most of our meals [except in Summer] and when lighting is needed, we either use on the lamps on the china hutch or have candles on the table.

Our chandelier has a story - found it on Craigslist - bought it from a Jet Blue pilot with too many sons that endangered it and his wife didn't like it . . .it came with his house, supposedly from Austria. The photo doesn't do it justice as it was taken in the middle of our renovation . . .the prism rainbows all over the dining room and into the kitchen are breathtaking! Put a smile on everyone's face in the morning.

Have one in dining room and one in the foyer. Avoided one with lots of crystals because they reminded me of my younger days when mom made us clean every single one of the many crystals on her two chandeliers! Saw some gorgeous chandeliers when in Venice but couldn't bear the thought of having to clean all those crystals! LOL!

I"M SAD ... A very lovely friend of mine who passed away recently had a very beautiful chandelier in her dining room which I would comment on every time I saw it.
One day she called me and asked me to come to her house for a visit. I went over and when I went in I noticed that the chandelier was taken down in her dining room. I asked her why she took it down and she said because she wanted me to have it. I couldn't believe it. She had actually took it down and there it was all nicely packed in a box. I hugged her and thanked her a million times. To make a long story short I hung it in my home and admired it every time I walked by it and would think of her.
Not that long ago we took it down to have it rewired because it was old and wanted to be safe. When the gentleman took it down it slipped out of his hands and fell crashing to the floor and crystals went smashing everywhere. The frame was even bent. I was in shock. I know it's pitiful but I actually cried while I was putting all the broken glass into a box. I just sat on the floor and all I could think about was my dear friend.
I kept what I could from what didn't break, which wasn't a lot and packed them into another box. I plan to make something out of what remains from that beautiful chandelier in honor of my dear friend. We haven't been able to find something as lovely to put in it's place.

Maybe you can make, or have made, a small sconce from the remaining pieces & use the pic as a template.

I know when I painted my dining room, a friend asked if I wanted him to take mine down & I said no. I taped it off & had plastic around it. I was so afraid of the same thing happening.

@Mark- If you have a picture, mate, circulate it on Houzz. Maybe someone could make something similar for you, incorporating the pieces you have left.
