Choosing Cabinets for Kitchen Renovation! Please help...

Currently planning my kitchen renovation. I have already finalized on the design plan.

Now I'm trying to decide if I want to go with a Yellow inset cabinet with a brownish glaze and distressing OR a warm stained Greige inset cabinet with a brownish glaze and distressing? I'm choosing between Medallion or Grabill.

With HOUZZ, I'm seeing some beautiful kitchens!! For the first time, I'm actually seeing kitchens with yellow cabinets in a photo! I'm really loving them.

I've always loved the stained grayish brown cabinets.

Our kitchen is the original 1970's, but we refinished the cabinets with a taupe stain.

My style is transitional. I've already chosen Cambria Quartz in Berkeley for the countertops. The flooring will be large ceramic tile (12"x24"). All the new appliances will be GE Slate including counter-depth Refrigerator with French Doors and Bottom Freezer, ceramic cooktop Range with double ovens, and Dishwasher. There will also be a built-in stainless steel GE Adventium Microwave/Convection Oven.

The kitchen/dining are leads into our family room. I've decided to carry the ceramic tile flooring into it. The fireplace is stone. The furniture is brand new...butter colored leather sofa, oval ottoman, and 2 recliners.

Anyone out there with yellow kitchen cabinets? Do you still love them?

How about your Grayish Brown Kitchen?
Is it timeless?

I'm open to all your thoughts and opinions!

Wondering how the kitchen is coming along?

Hello there! So nice of you to remember me!

We're still in the process of our kitchen renovation! It's been never ending!

Had lots going on! Thank goodness for summertime and outdoor grilling and dining!

My cabinets are gorgeous! We're very happy with them!

The radiant heat flooring should be ready any day now. The ceramic floor is waiting to be installed. It's a 12'x24' in a soft coco brown. It's by DalTile. We'll be laying it in a brick design pattern.

I have had difficulty choosing my countertop! Although I originally fell in love with Cambria in Berkeley, I did not love it once the cabinets were up! Now, I've finalized on Cambria in Bellingham and am in the process of scheduling a viewing at the fabricator!

The sink I fell in love with has been discontinued. I'm in the process of choosing a new one. Still wanting a unique stainless steel farm sink! Desperately trying to stay within a $2500 budget!

The cabinets look beautiful, Toni. Tile looks great too. I like this counter top choice much better. The other was pretty but too similar to the cabinets.

I'm so happy for you. It's all coming along so nicely. Good for you!!!

    You'll find your sink....

Is the chandelier installed? Would love to see it.

Hi Wendy. We haven't installed it yet. It'll be the last thing we do!
WooHoo, your sink and chandelier are awesome. Looking forward to a full review.

Heading into the home stretch with our kitchen renovation. I'm finding that choosing the backsplash is the single choice I'm finding difficult! I'm close to choosing a 3x6 matte finish subway tile in 2 or 3 coordinating colors. I'm leaning toward DalTile Rittenhouse Square.

The painter will be scheduled for mid January!

Our first holiday dinner was fabulous!

@Toni, just took a gander at the last few posts/updates.....wow! Those are some amazing choices you have! The sink especially is so unique.....very jealous here. ;-)

oh and have seen that Daltile Rittenhouse Square....great choice......classic, timeless.

    I have never seen it!

I'd love to use their beveled edge tile, but the color choices are very limited., especially in the matte finish. The counter has lots of sparkle, so I'm thinking the matte finish for the backsplash may be best.

These are the colors I'm considering.

I think those will work perfectly with your choices, Toni.

    Can you get samples?

Thanks Wendy! I've been reminding my hubby to go to their showroom! It's been hectic with the holidays! Soon...LOL

Hey Toni - had been following you on some other discussions. Looking great!

Hi divehound! Thank you! Was it a discussion on Cambria?

Yes it was. The long running one mainly around the jewel series. I'm getting Praa Sands and Torquay installed this week. Was nice to see you were happy. Hope still the same.

Divehound, I couldn't be happier with my Cambria Hampshire! I had never even seen a sample of it! But when I saw it at the Fabricator's, I fell in love with it!
Toni, do you have any updated pics? I'm in love with that sink. It is a piece of art.
    Thanks Lee!
We haven't finalized on our backsplash yet! Doors and trim are almost all up! Still need to have the painters come in. I'm thinking BM Chantilly Lace for woodwork and Hawthorne Yellow for walls. Bringing these colors into LR!
Ugh! Having a really tough time choosing a backsplash! I never thought this would be so difficult!

At this point, I'm leaning toward a matte finish 3"x6" subway tile. Probably white or a light taupey/greige? I prefer the matte finish because the Cambria Hampshire counters have lots of sparkle!

    Any backsplash ideas?

I think your matte subway tile will be perfect! Bring home some different shades of white/cream/greige so we can see them in the room. Looks great so far!

Brown too dark? Not matte, tho.

    Your kitchen is beautiful, btw.

Beautiful. Because of the "busyness" of our Praa Sand quartz countertop we went with a large format tile set vertically in a neutral color (picked up one the colors in the Quartz) to set off the counter. So very few grout lines or breaks.

    Did you decide?

Wendy, not yet! We're on vacation in Clearwater! We're with our 4 granddaughters, my son and daughter-in-law!
Divehound, please post a pic of your counter and backsplash!

Having trouble uploading photo. Any hints? I select upload photo and then double click on it but nothing happens.

Are you using a computer or an iPad? I use an iPad or my iPhone. When you click on attach a photo, you should get an option to choose from a photo location. I don't know how to do it from a computer though?

Color not completely right but you get idea.

Thanks divehound! Love your beautiful kitchen! What is the size of the tile on your backsplash? So beautiful! It compliments your counter very beautifully!
We have the same fridge! I absolutely love mine! So happy I went with the counter depth model! And, I adore the slate appliances! They are so fresh and coordinate with everything!

Toni - Thank you! I loved the slate appliances also. The tile is 17"x26" - Silk Blanco Expo. It was too tall vertically so the small piece that they cut off at the top was placed between the eating bar ledge and countertop. Worked perfectly. It is actually a pale gray which goes well with the Praa Sands. I've enjoyed watching your kitchen come together.

Love how it looks. The sink is amazing.

    Kitchen Update!
Never did I think it would take forever to finish my kitchen renovation! But, life happens!
Carpenter comes today to install the Quartz windowsills. Our German Shepard jumps up onto the window that faces the driveway...no more claw marks on wooden sills.
Backsplash is on order and paint colors have been chosen. Benjamin Moore Cappuccino for walls, Chantilly Lace for trim. The tile for the backsplash is a 2"x4" glass with a wavy texture.
Maybe we'll be done in time for Thanksgiving this year!

Came out great so far. I really like the backsplash you're putting in. My goals is having two bathrooms renovated before Thanksgiving, hope we both make it.
Finally painted the walls and woodwork! Cocoa Butter and Chantilly Lace by Ben Moore.

Toni, the paint color is perfect. It looks awesome with the cabinets. I think it really shows them off well. Great job.
