Hi, everyone. We are in the process of buying a new construction home and I need some advice. We were going to build, but the builder had overbuilt the spec house for the neighborhood and as a result we got a deal too good to pass up. That said, there were some issues with the house that we'd like to address before moving in. The first is the flooring, but we're relatively settled on a darkish wood throughout the main floor. The thing that I really need help with is what to do with the kitchen. We won't be doing any structural changes, but I'm really struggling with what to do with the cabinets and backsplash. Simply said, I hate the backsplash and the cabinets feel dated. I was thinking about painting the cabinets white, but I'm worried that the black/gold granite may clash against the white. That is also my concern with the backsplash. I'd like a nice basic subway tile, but again I fear it would be jarring against the countertops. Help!
