I think you should use the tin on the entire backsplash. Even going up to the small section in between the cabinets. This will create some drama and add texture to the area. As for the wall paint color, I think the larger spot you have is way too dark. When you are trying to find a paint color it is best if you do not put all the colors in the same area as they start to play off one another and it makes it more difficult to choose one. Paint large areas of the wall and then take a look at it throughout the day to see how the color looks in different lighting.

The backsplash is actually a copper color. I have to apply a few coats of clear coat to it still.

Once the backsplash is finished (would do entire backsplash), you may want to paint and white may compliment your appliances and make the room feel larger. On the large wall, I would use blackboard paint that also has metalic, so you can write messages, but also clip things to. It may be useful to add baskets onto the black shelving..cute but also practical to hide the items on your fridge and counters, so room feels larger and you would have more counter space. I have a small kitchen and use every possible storage arrangement I can think of. Hope this helps.
