Both are perfect. Love the colors. 5x7 should work. Or 6x9

The rugs appear too contemporary (in my view) for yr very nice space.

I see something like this and just change the throw.

WHERE did u get ur BEAUTIFUL ottoman?

Before you settle on a rug I think you need to get rid of the two striped chairs And the two end tables that are in corners and the plant between your new chairs. Less stuff would make your new furniture the center piece. Then clear the mantle and search Houzz for how to decorate that mantel. Then lastly consider a rug.

The ottoman is custom made from Van Gogh furniture .

This ref pic has some elements of yr very nice space.
Notice the rug is a tone on tone colour with a slight pattern. I think, a similar rug would suit yr space and bring all yr pieces together nicely.

I think your room is having a little identity crisis...there are conflicting styles in every level and you may be able to unify with a rug and paint...usually this dilemma is addressed by removing everything from the room that you don't LOVE... If the emerging look is still eclectic use a pretty big rug that has the colors but is muted in design and try to float the furniture on the rug for flow...then paint the walls with a color dominant in the rug

If you want to keep the striped chairs put one on each side of the fireplace with like tables and move the more modern pieces away from the grouping....

After small chairs placed at each side of fireplace....try couch parallel and facing fireplace and side chairs split( like the stripe chairs) by the couch

Thanks for the suggestions .. I am thinking of putting wallpaper on the wall behind the fireplace and painting the fireplace a lighter color ...I have a lot of dark wood pieces.
