Frameless shower stalls are constructed using high end thick glass panels. They actually tend to be sturdier than their framed counterparts. They are also easier to clean ( less cracks for gunk and bacteria to build up in. ) This being said, they are generally pricier. If cost isn't an issue, I'd recommend the frameless shower stall for most remodels.
