HI -- It looks like you need a lot more storage and counter space . Why do you need two fridges ? Would an all fridge and all freezer work better ? How much are you willing to do to fix the kitchen ? Are you doing a remodel here ? Can you post a sketch of the floor plan and state what appliances you are keeping and so on .

These were photos before bringing in second fridge. Took some previous advice, but I'm still not liking the arrangement.

We can't buy a new HUGE fridge yet. ( maybe in the new year)
We need the second fridge, as we have 7 kids.

I am planning to paint cupboards in a pale Cranberry. Walls are Sage, trim is White. Not sure yet, if I'm going to remove the yucky brick, or re, re paint it. I just hate this house!

Sounds like progress. Try moving one fridge back to the sink wall where it was, put the short cupboard back where it was next to the door. Move the large cupboard to the corner where the extra dishwasher was, and put the backporch fridge between the large cupboard and the short cupboard. It's convenient to have a counter next to a fridge.

Remind me if you are renting or buying this house?

Apple_pie_order: We bought this house and amalgamated our families. Only to discover this 1/2 million $ home was a mess!

We tried the tall cupboard beside one of the fridges, but it's actually a pantry, and the bottom doors slide out.

Thanks for additional info. So the tall cabinet has to be where you can get to both sides of it when the bottom pantry doors slide out. Maybe it could go in a mudroom? Or basement for canned goods storage?

If the house has good bones, it can be fixed up gradually. 7 kids is a handful, for sure. It takes a while to get things settled in a new house. That is, to find a place for everything and everything in its place. Shelves, cabinets, dressers, chests of drawers all get moved around.

Painting the colors you want will help with liking the house more and more as time goes on. The brick could be easily removed or hard to remove, no telling until you try it.
