Also, do the countertops and flooring have to be so dark in contrast to the whiteness of the cabinetry to get a great look?

Hi ejmetz, These are custom built cabinets built by Hieberts cabinets.
The colour for the counter tops was simply chosen from preference We actually considered doing white quarts with a grey fleck, I think that choice would have worked well also but for function we liked the idea of the darker stone
