Polished brass

Every door knob hinge. Faucet. fan chandelier!!!! Is it coming back soon.? Any way to fix them up .? Heard brushed brass is coming in. Can i brush them with metal brush?

These are very a traditional style and metal that will come back in vogue. If you are selling, they will likely be replaced by the new owner. If you think it worth the trouble, sell them on Craig's List to someone who desires the look and replace them with more updated ones for staging and selling your home. If staying in place, and you don't hate them, just wait - they'll make a comeback. If they don't suit your personal style, then sell them and replace.

Brass never really went out it just has more competition from other metals that have come into vogue in the last 20 years. It's classic and more traditional looking than brushed nickel.

What bothers you most? You can usually change door knobs and hinges fairly easily. The chandelier is very simple to switch.

I have the same problem. My house looks similar to yours, and we have everything shiny brass. I have started changing some rooms over to oiled bronze, expecting to change out the chandeliers as I go through the house. I have asked myself the same question about painting or bronzing somehow all the brass. The antique brass is a little easier to accept, but, again, we would have to be able to antique everything. I'm sure all of my brass fixtures, chandeliers, and knobs are nice quality, so it seems a shame to get rid of them. We want to sell our house in 1-2 years, and I know everyone looking at homes now has a prejudice against shiny brass. Any ideas from others would be very helpful!

We had brass light fixtures in the kitchen, dining room, hallways and bathrooms so my husband spray painted them with Crylon's oil rubbed bronze spray paint. They look wonderful, and it saved us around $300 dollars! We also spray painted our towel racks, TP holder and some plumbing fixtures in the tub when we upgraded the bathroom, and are very happy with it.

If you decide to do this, be sure and take everything apart, clean and sand it, prime it and the spray it. We used Crylon spray paints as the reviews on the Rustoleum said the nozzles were very 'iffy'. It cost us about $20 to do all that, and it really enhances the look of the house.

You can get paint for metal pieces. Pick the finish you want and go for it. I do think replacing some items may be more economical. My husband did this on an old ceiling fan after we repainted our family room. It looked brand new. I think you need to rough up the surface with sandpaper before doing it. Just read instructions on paint can.

Even if you paint it you'll have a Colonial style chendy due to the ball and arms. I would let it go to a colonial home.
