I like gailo ornamental quite a bit. you could try it for the island. The wood color I like is light maple or natural but I am not sure if it will go well.
I think the tile you currently have is good. Replace the counter top if you can with lighter granite like gailo ornamental. Could also try Santa Cecilia and New Venetian Gold.

Change color of island, knobs on cabinets. You could also Chang some upper cabinets to glass doors.

Wow the kitchen that is the same age as me, is already beautiful but if you want to re model, ok.

well quartz is beautiful for counters. You can change the colour if you want. Maybe blue or white or keep it black or your favourite colour.

Have a fancy fridge maybe one of those silver ones that has that ice cube thingy and water.

For the floors, its nice to keep tiles.


Great styles for the kitchen would be 50's ice cream or sundae bar with black and white tiles, blue and white as colours, modern and traditional which is an native american style. Your choice.

what about painting the cabinets a taupey gray color. It would lighten and brighten the kitchen and be a lovely contrast to your granite. You could also put in a different backsplash. My kitchen counters go in on Monday and I'm using exodus white on my isalnd with sage green cabinets and the verde butterfly on the periphery with a spice colored hickory. I found a neat porcelain tile that looks like slate that has sage gree, grays and some warm sand tones in it which really ties it all together
