"Knotty Pine" for white bearboard ceiling?

Hi all! We're doing a beadboard ceiling in the morning room, 6" tongue/groove, beveled, in pine, as I've seen many times on Houzz.

WHAT TYPE OF PINE do we buy? Wood worker was wondering if it should be knotty pine, but I'm wondering WILL THE KNOTS SHOW THROUGH WHITE PAINT? I prefer a smooth vs. rustic look.

Room is approx. 19'5" by 15'.

with out knots would be best but it's more expensive

Don't use knotty or they will bleed through. Use clear... or Armstrong (I'm sure there are others too) makes ceiling planks in a variety of looks. I used them in a bathroom ceiling and painted them white. They are dimensionally more stable than wood so you won't get the swelling and contracting with seasons. I get many comments that they love my wood ceiling....
