for the side window i would do shear light grey/white curtains with heavier shades on the sides
the rod here would go right under the ceiling and beyond the window on both sides
above the bed i would go for roman blinds (perhaps with some pattern like damask )
ii u can so them custom u can even mare roman blind and shades of the same fabric

That's a good suggestion. You can't see it, but I have white honeycomb shades already. So heavy drapes darker color and light shears? I agree with roman shades and custom made at that. Are drapers a good places to pull in color? Thinking yellow.

Ugh! There's just too much grey already. I don't know how to break in some color.

Hi---pretty room. I think yellow would be a great color in this space. Especially with the hue of the wood floor. Straight, tailored panels with a print incorporating yellow---OR panels that are a soft white---nothing gray or dark, as the room needs some contrast both in light/dark value and in pattern. Add a rug with texture, if you use pattern on the window, vice-versa if you go with plain drapes. I hope this is helpful. Keep us posted and Good Luck!

You know my style. :) I have been in the west elm site for like 2 hours! I'm leaning toward ivory velvet curtains...and a patterned rug. Or do I need a dark rug to anchor the bed?

Based on your bedroom ideabooks, you are attracted to neutrals, which create a relaxed and calming atmosphere. The top two photos below show neutral rooms. The bottom two photos show how a neutral room is changed by a few pops of color used in throw pillows, wall art, flowers and other accents. This is how you bring in some color. Start with your natural inclination towards neutrals and add a few pops of color that you like. I would suggest light blue as an accent color for your room, to soften the neutrals you're working with.

Well to answer my question about color drapes. I definitely like the solid light color. Frost grey west elm would be a slam dunk, but I can't stand rivots... I need rod pockets. Im going to try the ivory and hope its not too yellowish. You still think I should go dark grey roman with the small window or match the curtains? Also I'm planning a sliding barn door style with brushed nickel hardware...should I keep hardware color the same throughout? So my curtain rods should be brushed nickel too?

I'd keep the hardware the same throughout. As for the shade over the bed, I like the dark color to balance the dark headboard. Here it is with a shade close to the color of the curtains. The wall has less presence with the lighter shade, IMO.

VANGUARDS post had toasty camel backdrop curtains above? I think the ones I posted were sort of camel - yes they called them 'amber gold' - is that what the one? It would seem an understated look - you'd need that patterned rug and beautiful texture in curtains and I think a bit of metallic pillow.... lamps too....

Texture is what you're seeking. Mongolian lamb pillows in a neutral? Pattern can create texture, too, but I prefer real textures rather than patterns for this room, I think. Or woods. . All within neutral grays or taupes.....Also, don't forget some metal textures, too. Shiny, glossy or dull and hammered.........even if it is a small object on the bedside table.

I ordered these. Hopefully it's not too close to wall color. I kinda love them, but they may not be right color. Definitely going for a pattern, just wish I could find something with a little pop of color. Hope I didn't screw up. Stay tuned.

I think you'll find it's too much gray. You're looking for a pop of color; no better place to start than the curtains.

keep the window treatments neutral and go for pattern and pillows on rug and pillows...that way you can change things up that are less expensive that window treatments. If you have a honeycomb already go for a nubby grey linen a shade lighter on the drapes and the roman. (I have a window covering business......)

Agreed! That was my test rug. I love it and just ordered the BIG one last night. Once I get the hardward and curtains up I'll focus on pulling color in with pillows and wall hangings.
