Color Combination Failed

I would like that my little room would be charming, but I made a mistake when choosing the color head-board. Anyone have any ideia to take the room less beige and recover the romantic and sophisticated air of my plans?

Good suggestions, thank you! Introduce tones and colors were my dilemma. Loved the idea.

I would add a contrast color in a button at each cross section of the tufting on the headboard, then play up that color in your bedding. Hope that helps. You just need a few tweaks, not a failure. Charmean Neithart

Yes probably the easiest thing to do is re-do the paper on the wall. You could also re-upholster the headboard in a more white/oatmeal tone which would make the room work again. But since i'm a fan of color - i'd suggest you introduce a new accent color. How about periwinkle for something soft but different?! This slightly retro paper with some periwinkle color plus a few periwinkle pillows on the bed will bring a modern look with some color in place of your floral paper.

HI -- I like the headboard ! It would be cheaper to change the wall than the headboard . Find another wallpaper in a bolder pattern with your colors in it or just paint the wall and hang a painting ( long narrow and low ) or a row of three pictures (black and white photos?). Add an accent color to your room -- you have the beige base so go from there. I think your choice of headboard might turnout to be the best thing.

Beige is beige. Tihe above suggestions of changing the wall paper and pillow/bedspread accents will bring this bedroom back from beige at relatively little cost.

I hate hanging wallpaper. The headboard looks fairly high, do you have less than 54 inches between it and the ceiling? If so, I would go find some luscious chocolate brown cotton velvet and buy enough yardage to cover from wall to wall, just fold under the selvedge and ends and literally tack it in place. And when you get tired of that, just go find some other fabric that speaks to you and replace the velvet.

Very good idea, just needs a little tweak...the easiest way to meld these two surfaces together would be a long rectangular rococco style mirror in a distressed metal or painted wood finish that melds the cool and warm tones in the headboard and wall paper.

I would build the pillows up against the headboard... so use some contrasting euro pillows (big square shapes) layered with the shams and pillows adding one more contrast. As others have suggested change the colour of the wallpaper.Could you lower your lights so that they are not in line with the top of the headboard and become a feature.. could be more dramatic.. larger against the headboard... And add stronger solid wood side tables with drawers to put your things into so they remain clean looking. You could pick up this dark colour in a series of frames over the bed - 3 or so - that hold a grouping of photos predominantly black and white with one feature coloured in an accent shade of your choice - pick your favorite - Then this colour could repeat on the bed in a pillow. Hope this helps.

I'm not a designer, but just from a homeowner that's seen decades of design choices come and go, I think you were spot on in choosing your neutral headboard. Keep the things that stay longer neutral and change your accessories. You won't regret it.
