I would paint brass and wall dark grey. It will be a stunning contrast to your stone and it won't highlight the television so much.

Can you clean the smoke stain off of the stone? That would help a lot, and I agree with the dark grey above

I would pull a color from your stone. I wouldn't go too dark up top. I personally think it may look top heavy? Definitely paint the brass, that's a smart idea. :) whatever color you choose...maybe go a few shades lighter or darker on the walls? Good luck and have a nice holiday! :)

I really like all these ideas, but could anyone send me a photo of what the fireplace may look like with the above panelling painted? Trying to convince my fiancé that this little project would look nice.
