I'd lower the clock by perhaps 4", just to connect it better with the countertop. As for the sailboat, the standard for hanging art would have the middle of the art at the height of your eyes. However, I've always liked to hang art that is near a toilet a bit closer to where it might be viewed by someone seated on the toilet. In fact, hanging art in an unexpected location and at an unexpected low height has served me well over the years. So you could consider hanging the sailboat right beside the person who is seated on the toilet. Art hung at an unexpected height will gain more attention than a piece of art hung where you would ordinarily expect to find it.

Picked up the counter top for the laundry cabinet today. Jared can't come back until next Saturday, but I'm feeing like we're nearing the finish line.

Won't be installed until next weekend, but trying to make sure I get mirror and sconce placement right. I screwed the mounting plate to the wall so that I could hang a sconce temporarily and taped off the mirror size. The sconce is centered over the drawer hardware, although in the photo and also in person it has the illusion that it is mounted inside of that vertical plane. Should I have them mounted a little further out so that they are centered on the edge of the mirror and the end of the countertop so it doesn't look so crowded???

I think they are fine as is as long as mirror frame doesn't go beyond the edge of the blue line. However, the left sconce electrical connection seems to way farther away from the mirror than the sconce on the right. It certainly looks that way and doesn't seem to be just an illusion.

No illusion Carolyn. Jared had followed your drawing for the sconces, thinking that the vanity was going to be up against the wall. When we "scooched" it out away from the left wall several inches, one lined up perfectly over the drawer hardware and the other is off by about 6". He just pulled the wires, but is aware that the left one needs to be moved and will install remodel wiring boxes in the proper position when he comes on Saturday. The outside edge of the tape is exactly where the mirror will be. Was kinda fun scribbling on the walls, knowing that paint will cover it. Haven't done that since I was a kid! Happy Valentines!

Ah, yes, it's Valentines' Day and we had a lovely dinner at home with a grilled filet mignon and beet salad, served with a fabulous Brunello which a dear friend brought back from Italy for us! It was an exceptionally nice evening! Hope you and Bill are having a great one too!

Made good use of the plumbing from the laundry sink in the former laundry room. It was on a wall shared with the garage, so had Jared flip the plumbing and drain to the garage side. Found a used vanity with top on Craig's list and was able to use the old faucet that has hose thread on it, so I can attach a hose and give the dogs warm showers in the driveway. They will be happy that they no longer get cold showers!

Thanks Gypsy. There's a bit of red in the sailboat photo, as well as in the clock face. What was I thinking when I put a fluffy white hand towel in there? Within hours it looked like preschool handprint art!

Maybe people will learn to use the sink in the garage for really dirty hands, keeping your white hand towel mostly white. Can middle aged but brilliant dogs learn new tricks?

I actually bought a bunch of garage rags at an auto store, they were a beautiful deep blue terrycloth instead of the usual red cotton rags.

No new tricks for my old dog! Easier to just get a supply of gray towels and let him be Bill.

At a certain age it is dangerous to try to reform men...all at once they think they can do load of laundry and either do it all on hot hot hot and shrink your favorite sweater or throw in something that the color will bleed on all the clothes.

I like fissfiss' paper towel idea. Can you recycle dirty paper towels once they're dry?

Paper towels for the garage sink? Good idea. I can mount a paper towel holder on the bottom side of the shelf above the sink.

I think not for the laundry/powder room. The top drawer of the laundry folding table cabinet is full of cleaning rags to mop up any spill.

And yes, paper towels can be recycled, even if put in the recycle bin when wet.

Thank you Nada, but there are only two walls that lend themselves to art and I've already hung one of my photos printed to canvas and a French wall clock.

The begonia that my sister started for me from my grandmother's plant needs some time to grow, but seems much happier in a bright red pot. Homegoods came through on both the pot and dove gray hand towels.

It's officially finished!
