Front porch flooring?

I cannot really tell by the pic. Is the flooring wood or a Trek decking like material? If it is wood, how do you keep it protected from the harsh outside elements?

    The porch flooring is mahogany. Most of the porch is covered and pretty sheltered from the elements. The steps are exposed and do require some maintenance of a good penetrating oil finish.
