How about cellular shades?

How about a cordless pleated shade- I have one in my kitchen window and love it! It is up 3/4 of the way most of the day- really only down in the early morning in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky and it shines right in and is blinding.

Thought of that for sink window but proximity of terrace door is so close and need easy access for deck wh cellular doesn't provide. So dilemma is coordinating treatments in a small space. Help!

Ikea has meshy sheers, white for $3.99. Check their Grommet panels. Hang them from close to the ceiling down to the floor. I think you can get block out for cheap, too. Use The shears on the window above the sink. You cut them off for the length you want. No hemming. Make them super full above the sink.

I have sliding doors in my kitchen and a kitchen window over the sink-- I have the cellular shades on all-- I lower the shades on the door at night otherwise they are up and don't get in the way. My shade over the sink is corded-- I think it would be too hard to reach to open/ close without the cord.

Do you need the window coverings primarily for blocking the sun or do you need privacy during the day?

Window def needs to block sun. Terrace privacy in eves and early am

Sounds like my kitchen! You can get the shades fairly reasonably from Home Depot or blinds to go. Mine came with the townhouse ( moved in about 17 months ago) -- I plan to replace the ones on the door with the top down- bottom up style/ cordless so that I can hamper some privacy but still let in some light/ air.

Another option would be wood blinds-- I have had those on french doors and they worked well ( since they attach to the door itself) . Might be easier to keep clean in the kitchen too.

They are just an off white-- nothing spectacular! ( they match ones on the sliders and windows in my living room-- too many of them which is why I haven't replaced them yet! LOL, not in the budget!)

Mine are Albasster/off white I like mine. Vacuum or spot clean. When sun shines it's bright & hurts my eyes. I wish they were tan/tea or gray or blue. I uv film the window.

Oh. One of the issues is glaring sun. Thought cellular blocked that. Thx for mentioning.
