What about tucking the desk into the corner where the dresser is now, and moving the dresser to the right against that wall? Would it block any windows? How about one small nightstand like the Malm one that matches the bed, or a Lack table from Ikea?

Great starting pieces! ASVInteriors, great pic!

ASV interiors I love the redesigned teen room especially with the wall striping.

Britm I like your idea about tucking the desk away. The only problem is that the hideaway also has the cable outlet. Not sure how a wall mount would look atop the desk.

I would start off with the bedding that he likes and paint with a coordianted color. He's only 13, so you will probably need a new comfortor (and repainted room) before he finishes college. Plus his taste is definitely going to change. I would go with what he likes now and would suggest a lighter paint shade, due to the dark furniture. My suggestion if he doesn't care would be to use grey, as it compliments the furniture and the rug, is modern and can be youthful with the right accessories. You could add sports decals over his bed and as he gets older, they could be peeled off. If the desk is not black, I might paint it and add a few pops of bright colors to make it fun.

You could put the wall mount TV on an adjustable bracket that pulls out and angles the TV towards the bed.

I love the idea of recessing the desk, or even just a wall mounted slab of wood with a movable pullout file cabinet parked underneath it to one side. That way the chair can be tucked under when not in use and you don't lose even more floor space.

Perhaps you could use the colors of his favorite team, without any of the obvious baseball symbols and images. Maybe utilizing the stripe idea that ASV posted :)))

Could be like this. :)
Brackets for TV (either in wall recess or mounted right on wall)

Desk ideas, but with the TV mounted above and/or below shelves and desk.
