We used a Wet Location Rated LED strip light in the niche and under the bench. I wasn't involved in the actual installation and construction detail, so unfortunately I can't answer your question about the waterproofing. I'm guessing that the low voltage wire came through a drilled hole in the tiles and it was probably siliconed to seal the penetration. The LED strips can be ordered with waterproof connections and leads to whatever length you need. This way you can make the connection in a remote location that is protected from the elements.

This is an amazing shower. Great design, lighthing, etc.. Can this stone be used in a steam shower or is it too porous and will it also darken?
