Wouldn't try to match the existing floor, unless you find the exact same tiles. If the furniture doesn't have to stay, just choose the hardwood floor you like and go from there. But why don't you have new carpet put in? Wouldn't you like to sink your feet into lovely luxurious feeling carpet when you get out of bed? Or is it an allergy issue?

Way easier and cheaper to get new carpet especially since you have tile in the other rooms.

Start with bedding that you love. Spend a little more for something really nice that you'll enjoy and feel good about every time you enter the room. Restoration Hardware has really wonderful stuff.

Get lamps for the bedside tables and art for the walls.

Don't paint or replace carpet until you decide on your bedding. Here are some ideas.

learning from your advice also but am wondering.... if i like white bedding, or the idea of changing my bedding, is it necessary to start with bedding and then go from there? if not, where should i start?

Hi JMK, I looked through your idea book to see what you saved . It seems you gravitate toward a calm look with a warm palate; mostly white bedding and soft furnishings with an eclectic mix. A romantic, upholstered headboard in cream velvet might be a good place to start. I would re- carpet. There are many outlets for wonderful bedding; most of what you seem to like are white sheets and luxurious down filled duvets. As far as wall color.. Have you thought about what you may like in here?

You have sliding doors to a balcony? I would use that to start a theme for this room. Soft blues, like Sherwin Williams Krypton and greens, an accent wall for your bed to be against. You should choose all the elements in this space, carpeting, bed and bedding before going with a paint color change. Decide on what "theme" you want, how soft or how vibrant.
