Entry hall decor

I am remodeling my home & would like to use this piece in my entry hall. Any more ideas on what to else to add with this piece?

I would add some baseboard, a mirror over the piece, and a lamp.

    Exactly what Margo said.

Our baseboards are being installed on Sat. Do you mean a floor lamp or a small lamp on top? Does it need something placed to the left to fill the wall space? I have a mirror above buffet in the next room. I don't think I need another mirror. Do you think family photos or art would work? What about a chair or ottoman?

Oh, it is beautiful and really works in this space. I love the size and shape and color!!!

I think mirrors get suggested for foyers as they are useful for those coming and going. A table lamp is nice for extra light or even a night light each evening.

I meant a small lamp on top. I think you need nothing to the left. Can the buffet mirror be used over this piece and art over the buffet? No chair or ottoman;)

abbyjean, I am glad you responded....you helped my friend with her entry hall (the one with the crazy quilt) and she really liked your help. I like the idea of a night light by the stairs. Perhaps a mirror is a good idea. I don't want it to become monochromatic how do you suggest I add color?

How about the base of the lamp being your accent color and maybe a bowl/dish on the top for keys and mail that coordinates with it? What color is in the adjoining rooms?

How far away is the door? Is it a door that is used a lot? Will you need a rug? A rug is a great way to tie/bring in color, too.

Can you share some information about your railing system? I love it and it is exactly what I want.

Here are some pictures based on previous discussion

abbyjean, the photographer is standing with her back to the double entry doors which are used daily. Colors in adjoining rooms are sage, burgundy, brown and tan. The door is about 11 feet from the wall we are looking at.I agree with you about a rug.

We had a local contractor build the stair railings for us. He used black wrought iron with copper highlights.

    Rug, no photos there.

I am not feeling either of the lamps....one too tall and one too short. Where is Goldilocks? Same with the art/pics.....just not right yet.

You will need a good sized rug so it does not look dwarfed in this nice big space.....and double doors rather need a larger size, too.

The 3rd photo is like the view of my entry hall in the pics I've posted. The 4th photo shows door placement, like mine, with the wall in question behind the photographer.

I think you should go for a longer and thinner table like this! And instead of silvery finishes shown, try a bronzy/ copper like finishes

    How exciting to be remodeling!
1st picture (family) .. height is just right .. could be a a bit narrower.
Small lamp .. too short... tall lamp seems a bit too tall... do you have a lamp that is a bit shorter than the tallest one?
Square picture too brown, long & too tall (touches the brown trim on stairs).
Is this the main entry for everyone or just guests? Is this a spot where folks will need a seat to remove or put on footwear?
A plant would add some life ... or fresh flowers... also nice spot for Christmas decor (I know just over but need to think of "next year".

Here's a photo with a different size piece of art. I will look for another lamp. The entry is used by all. Is there room for an ottoman or chair?

Now that one I like! I like the black frame as it ties in the black in the room and the size is also good! And now the lamp almost looks like it works! How did you do that??? LOL

Perfect size ... but needs more color. If you plan on using a rug i would suggest to get the rug 1st then can pull a color from that.
I think a small chair or stool would fit. Is it possible to push the console more to the left then a chair could be placed in the corner on an angle. Give it a try with any small chair that you have available just to see.

I like the balance of the photos with the taller lamp. Decide what should be the focal point. In this case the piece of furniture. Don't confuse the eye with too much to look at, distracting your attention.

Lamp is taller than your head .. do you have one that would reach about 2/3 the height of the picture. Remodeling is all about the "workout".

Chair with a touch of black would be nice.

If you use a shorter lamp place on the console it to the right of the picture.

I agree that a place to sit, even for must a moment, in a foyer, is nice. Do you even have a dining chair to try? If it is a chair, you have to be careful with the back of the chair balancing the height of the table. And an ottoman.....has to be the right style, too.

Great ideas! I will try one of my chairs.

Thanks for all your ideas! I'll post a "final" pic after I have it all put together. I have other things that may work. Most of our things are still in storage because of our renovation.
    Counting on the final.......thanks!

Will be like a big shopping spree!. When you get all your items back in the house .. group like things together in a pile . then when doing a vignette you will have easy choices.
