Winter Bonsai Help

Hi!

I am a beginner at caring for Bonsai plants. I bought a small Juniper (I am not sure what exact species of Juniper the person I purchased it from only told me it was a Juniper) I was provided with a sheet of care instructions but in the last few months the leaves have begun to turn brown. After some research I discovered these trees prefer to be outside (I have been keeping it indoors) especially since they require a cold climate dormant period. I live in Ontario Canada and right now the temperature is at about -12 degrees Celsius. I have the materials to build a shelter for my bonsai but I am unsure of two things. My shelter will be clear to allow sunlight in but should I build my shelter so that it completely covers my bonsai or should I leave a portion open? Also if my bonsai has been indoors so far all winter is it safe for me to bring it outside suddenly?

Thank you for all of your help :)
