Trees from Amazon? Do you mean eBay? Why would you spend money on a tree sight unseen from anywhere (photos won't tell you what the back looks like, what the nebari are like, whether it has spider mites, etc.). Go get a ficus, or schefflera or some tropical and learn to keep it alive for a while, then think about bonsai-ing it when you've done some reading.

I am big into wine, it is my first hobby, infact I work at a winery. This is what I was thinking of from Amazon. It is already established and grapes, unless my house goes through frost seasons, are hard to kill.

Hi, I saw that you're in NY, so I guess you'd plan to keep it indoors til summer? Do you have very good (fluorescent, halide?) lighting set up? I guess if you know how to grow grapes, then it's up to you - a cute idea, but I would suggest getting more bonsai-growing info from books, or other bonsai sites rather than depending at all on any care tag that comes with the tree. It really would need to be outdoors from late spring to early frost (they can usually take a light one, I guess you know) because keeping it inside then would be a shame - nothing grows better indoors in summer than outdoors.

You could check out the small-leaf ficus or serissa. I get quite a few trees off of eBay and except for a frozen one this winter...which was replaced by seller...never had any problems...I recommend taking a peek at csnurs on eBay...they do an excellent job of packing&shipping
