I saw this on TV, too. I have no experience with that personally, but I have a neighbor who grows one on her patio, and it does well. Has quite a few tomatoes on it. Wouldn't hurt to try.Good luck!

I used 2 last summer- 1 for tomatoes and 1 for cucumbers. The cukes didn't fare as well, but the tomatoes were fine. The biggest hint is to only put one, maybe two (at most) in a turvey- I had 6 in one, so they didn't thrive. It was my first time ever gardening, so I can't really complain! :) They grew, we had tomatoes, but the plants themselves didn't do quite as well as if I'd put just 1-2 plants in it. This year, I have Early Girls and Beefmasters in the turveys- 1 in each, and they're doing pretty well.

Just poking around this forum and I saw your question. I have used these for several years now. I have two of the single hanging variety and one on the stand that hold three separate plants. Love both kinds. Sooo much easier than putting tomatoes in the ground. I still have my veggie garden, but I hardly put any tomatoes in it anymore. They are too hard to stake.

Just make sure you have a very strong place to hang the topsy turvies. :-)
