I am sorry for not visiting this earlier. The rose culture depends on your zone and climate. The balcony is located near living quarters; this makes the place a little warmer. The pot size is dependent upon the size of the plant and surface area of all the leaves. The roses are very vigorous and they grow well easily in my opinion.

They grow very quickly in good sun.

Wise plant selection. With a little root pruning ( not bonsai pruning ) they can live in same pot forever.
