Standard annual petunias vs. surfina, wave

Hi,

I have a north facing planter that get blasted by full sun until 1:00 pm or so and I have found that one of the best all around performers are petunias for this location (part sun plants like Impatiens get burned). I usually get about 30 of the home center annuals in 4-6 color shades. Problems is, even in my location most do not make it through the winter. Replanting is not a big deal but if I can reliably get something to last a few seasons it would save me a nice chunk of change.

I have planted some of the supertunias and found that if they make through the first season they usually will last many seasons. Hard freezes here are very rare.

I was thinking of buying the Surfina Petunia and the Wave Petunia online so I can get 4 or 5 shades of color (they never have more than 2 colors at the home centers in the wave or Surfina). They are exceptionally cheap at Park seed when they have them.

Do you think the Surfina and/or wave petunia would survive the winter here?

Thanks
